Glaesserella australis is a recently identified pathogen in the Australian pig industry. This paper, by Yee et al was co-authored by Apiam swine vet Dr Sarah Jenkin.
Published in Advanced Animal Bioscience the research involved developing a new multiplex PCR that was specific and could identify G. australis in pure culture. The papers outlines that the assay would appear to be a useful addition to the suite of diagnostic tools for pig respiratory disease diagnostics.
