In a new initiative for the University of Melbourne’s Veterinary School, Apiam has undertaken the first student cohort of the Population Medicine Elective Course. Conducted predominantly remotely by Apiam swine vets Drs Jonathon Van Dissel and Robert Suter and pig and honey bee guru Dr John Carr (from the UK), the course covered pigs, cattle, honey bees and a range of other population medicine species. Thanks to Apiam vet and faculty member Associate Professor David Beggs for assistance on the ground.
Thanks to the generosity of Apiam pig farming clients, the students were also able to undertake ‘real-life’ post mortems in the University’s pathology room. A great program, with the second group to undertake the elective next week.
