Using infrared thermography to maintain pig health

Great article by Apiam swine veterinary specialist Dr John Carr et al on the use of infrared thermography to assist in the identification of environmental stresses for pigs.

Infrared thermography can aid in the early detection of both clinical disease of pigs and
failure of correct environmental management of the unit.

This article aims to illustrate to practitioners the benefits of using infrared cameras
as a routine tool in the examination of pigs and their environment, and how the images produced can
be used to help educate the farm health team and identify areas where improvements are needed to
ensure that the health, wellbeing and welfare of the pigs is maintained.
