Shaun Welsh
Operations Manager – Pork Storks Australia/Technical Services
A native of NSW, Shaun originates from a mixed farming background of cattle and cropping.
After completing an Advanced Diploma in Farm Management from the University of Sydney, he pursued interests in the intensive animal industries and took up a position on a dairy and pig farm, later joining a 300 sow piggery as a Piggery Attendant. This position was quickly followed by an advancement to Piggery Manager which he held for the next 11 years.
In 2006, Shaun was the proud recipient of a Nuffield Farming Scholarship, with the following 12 months being an exciting period where he travelled to The Philippines, China, USA, Canada Ireland and France. This was followed by further travel in 2007 to the USA, Ireland, Denmark and The Netherlands to focus on his area if study which was ‘Increasing sow production and other technologies to improve efficiency in the Australian Pork Industry’
From 2010 to 2013, Shaun was Production Manager for a 8500 sow farrow to finish system.
In 2017, he joined Apiam as Operations Manager for Pork Storks Australia, where he oversees two artificial insemination centres and provides technical services and training in breeder herd management, including reproduction and data anlaysis of herd recording systems.
