Remote wearables, ultrasounds and virtual eyewear to detect BRD in cattle

Great article on Beef Central featuring Apiam feedlot vet Dr Tony Batterham, who is leading an MLA funded project assessing technologies to enhance early detection of bronchopneumonia in cattle.

A team of vets and feedlot staff have been using wearable technology to track the behaviour and movement of cattle, while constantly checking temperatures and performing a series of chuteside tests to diagnose Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD)

The project has demonstrated early disease detection and better animal health and welfare outcomes that also enhance antimicrobial stewardship practices.
